Depending upon the type of injuries and the coverage involved, the Medical Cost Projection must take into account many factors, not all of which are evident simply from a review of the claim file.

Starting with a chronological review of the medical records and payments made to date, our Certified Life Care Planners, Nurse Case Managers and Legal Nurse Consultants take into account the accident or injuries, prior injuries and conditions, medical history, treatment and medical care needs, possible related complications, age, health status, life expectancy, and many other factors. Our findings are then corroborated with the treatment professionals and independently researched utilizing trusted sources of medical and cost data. Our detailed Medical Cost Projection report provides the following key information:   

• Projection of lifetime future medical costs for purpose of settlement or reserving.
• Identification of non-injury related medical issues, medications and treatment.
• Assumptions and rationale for projected medical costs and calculations.
• Clear breakdown of expenses utilizing easy to read tables and charts.
• Specific recommendations for positively managing the medical portion of the claim and achieving the best possible use of medical claim expenditures, if requested.

While Medical Cost Projections are most often utilized in complex, high-dollar claims with significant anticipated future medical exposure, our clients also rely on this service to assist in evaluating any case in which the future medical needs are uncertain. Once referred, our Medical Cost Projections are completed promptly (most reports are received no more than 35 days from the date of referral). We also perform “rush” assignments when requested, and help with obtaining documentation if necessary.
